Sakura Runcorn — Runcorn

Brisbane Bites Recommendation:

Sakura– Runcorn

If you enjoy the taste of fresh, quality fish when your favourite roll hits your palate, then this is the place for you.

Brisbane Bites Recommendation:

Sakura (Runcorn) is a small, authentic Japanese restaurant located at the corner of a small business complex. The interior was authentic and they made one of the best sushi we have ever had in Brisbane.

Brisbane Bites Recommendation:

We snagged two seats at the bar directly in front of chef and asked him to feed us. The sushi chef was very organized, attentive and efficient. All the ingredients he needed were boxed nicely, and his working area was very clean.
Brisbane Bites Recommendation:We probably got over a dozen different items, from the pork katsu with rice to the tempura and, of course, the fish.

Brisbane Bites Recommendation:

Assorted Sashimi L ($38)

Each piece of shashimi is so fresh, you will not need to touch the soy sauce; it would only distract from the flavour of the fish.
Brisbane Bites Recommendation:

Hotate Tobiko Sushi Roll ($12)

Definitely go for the Hotate Tobiko (scallop) Roll while you’re there. The scallop was extremely fresh.

Our Thought

Brisbane Bites Recommendation:

The sushi & sashimi is enough of a reason to come back. Even though the fish selection is very limited to your typical fish (salmon, tuna, toro, etc.), it really is as fresh as it gets outside of Japan. Our only disappointment was the sushi chef knife skills wasn’t good as we expected

A friendly reminder: Sakura Runcorn seats less than 30 at one time, so make sure you make reservations.
