Six Degrees Licensed Cafe & Restaurant — Indooroopilly
Six Degrees Licensed Cafe & Restaurant
Here at Brisbane Bites, we needn’t necessarily an excuse to go out for breakfast! So, this weekend, the team headed to Six Degrees cafe in the suburb if Indooroopilly (about 6km west if the Brisbane CBD).
Having grown up in the area, I personally consider Six Degrees to be a bit of a gem — those of us who are West-siders would most likely agree that the diversity and choice to food in our neck of the woods is sometimes lacking.
Luckily, Six Degrees is a fine establishment open from lunch to dinner 7 days. The owners are of Asian descent, and thus the style of food has a distinct fusion feel — particularly more so for the lunch and dinner items. It seems that roast duck features happily in many menu items (and we look forward to returning to try these dishes).
Ambiance-wise, the venue is surprisingly very relaxing despite being next to a moderately busy road. We chose a spot on the deck which is nicely elevated from the walkway below and provides an enjoyable vantage point for people watching. The elevation also affords a gentle breeze.
The decorations are at times an odd mixtures of textures and moods, but I suppose this is what makes this place a true gem — it’s unique.
In terms if the breakfast menu, it is pretty standard to be honest. There are of course eggs done in several different styles, the big breakfast option, French toast, muesli etc. the dishes that stood out were their “rice pancake” and “coconut pancake” items. But feeling hardly inclined for a sweet breakfast on this particular morning, the team settled for some of the savoury classics (listed below in next section).
What we had
Freshly squeezed orange juice & Frozen Chai Smoothie
The OJ was pretty standard and contained some delicious pulp pieces. The frozen chai smoothie sounded unique off the menu. It was okay, however we would have liked it to be a bit stronger. It was refreshing though.
Eggs royale ($16.90)
Poached eggs, lots of smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce, wilted spinach and sour dough bread.
There was plenty of salmon on the plate. The dish was presented well and the hollandaise was creamy yet still maintained a decent amount of tang.
The Six Degrees Break
Three eggs scrambled, with toast, cheesy-tomato, smoked salmon, capers, freshly sliced red onion and herbed pork chipolatas ($19.90)
The size of the meal was very generous and even a big eater such of myself struggled to get through it all! The meal was clean and crisp tasting and did not leave a feeling of greasiness or heaviness after the meal. The chipolatas were not too oily and the combination of the different items worked well together
Our Thoughts

Six Degrees is a great restaurant/cafe in “the burbs”. Although we have only reviewed the breakfast on this particular instance, we have been here several times for lunch and found the meals to be equally of fine quality (and exceptional creativity in menu items). We would like to return to try some of the duck based menu items such as the duck burger or duck pizza.
