For the uninitiated, Grill’d is a burger institution originating from Melbourne that specialises in ‘gourmet’ burgers. Their marketing is progressively chic in its use of nifty catchphrases, and 1950s stylings combined with art-house cartoon graphics. Over the last few months they have been expanding aggressively in Qld and we visited the Wintergarden store, which is the latest addition to the fold.

As Brisbane’s expansion as a modernizing city continues, so too does the explosion of sushi outlets around the traps. Sushi on Roma, in my opinion, is a standout example of this genre.

We like Asian fusion food. Its delicate mix of flavours and textures excites my palate and we gain a particular sense of enjoyment when an establishment gets it all right. Aja Coffeehouse has done just that.

Chingu is one of a procession of newly opened Korean venues in the Brisbane city area. Like many of its contemporaries, it features understated modern décor and fairly standard Korean (& Japanese) fare. It is located in the Chinatown mall and is, on the whole, quite a pleasant venue.
