If Landmark Chinese Restaurant is not the biggest place in Brisbane to have Yum Cha, it most certainly is the most well known. Landmark has been a Brisbane Yum Cha institution for several decades. It has undergone a series of transformations and whilst many a food blogger has written about it already, I will instead attempt to make this experience a little more personal for you today.

Sunnybank is my favorite local place for delicious Asian food, this weekend I went with a couple of friends to have Yum Cha and dim sum.
For some of you who were not familiar with the term yum cha, it means “Drink Tea” in Cantonese. While drinking Chinese tea is the focal point of yumcha, the consumption of dim sum is undoubtedly another of its most essential defining feature.

On a Sunday afternoon, The Brisbane Bites team was lucky enough to catch a table at the famed Sunnybank Hakataya Noodle with only 10 minutes wait. Seating is quite limited here, with a mere 6 or 7 bar stools and about 4 tables.

The air is buzzing with excitement. The restaurant is packed. At the counter lies a fresh, piping hot bowl of noodles… as we creep cautiously into this small Japanese restaurant, the sounds get slightly louder and the delicious smells more intense.

Kadoya is a funky fresh franchise that has recently expanded from its original store in the Brisbane CBD to another the Southside suburb of Sunnybank. Located in the famous Market Square precinct, home of deliciously authentic Asian cuisine, Kadoya is welcome addition to the local food scene. Serving up a great variety of Japanese bento (food sets), donburi (meat & rice bowls), Japanese curries and other delicious Japanese dishes.
